Banksman Training in West Lothian

Training for the people who guide vehicles safely around yards, depots and sites.

What does a banksman do?

A banksman (or vehicle marshal) guides drivers when they are reversing or manoeuvring in areas where visibility is limited or where people are working nearby. Reversing vehicles are a major cause of accidents in yards and on sites, so having trained banksmen in place helps keep your people and vehicles safe.

What the training covers

  • The role and responsibilities of a banksman
  • Recognising the hazards around reversing and manoeuvring vehicles
  • Blind spots and what the driver can and cannot see
  • Standard hand signals and clear communication with the driver
  • Where to stand and how to stay safe while guiding
  • Site rules, risk assessments and personal protective equipment

Training can be tailored to your yard, depot or site. Get in touch to talk about what you need. We also offer forklift truck training and HIAB lorry crane training.
