Category 'D1+E' Minibus and Trailer Training in Livingston

Add trailer towing to your D1 minibus licence, with a combined weight of up to 12 tonnes.

What does a D1+E licence let you drive?

A D1+E licence lets you drive a D1 minibus (up to 16 passenger seats) towing a trailer over 750kg. The combined maximum authorised mass of the minibus and trailer must not exceed 12,000kg, and the trailer must stay within the rated towing capacity of the minibus.

It is a useful addition for clubs, schools and tour operators who need to carry luggage, kit or equipment behind the minibus.

Before you start

You need to hold a full category 'D1' licence and have D1+E added as a provisional entitlement. Once that is in place there is no further theory test, so you can go straight into practical training.

The training

Training covers safety checks, coupling and uncoupling, the reversing exercise and on-road driving with a trailer, all to the standard needed to pass the DVSA practical test.
