Digital Tachographs and Drivers' Hours

Digital Tachograph and Drivers' Hours Training

A practical half-day course on using digital tachographs and following drivers' hours rules.

About the course

This half-day course gives drivers a clear understanding of the digital tachograph, the rules on how it must be used, and drivers' hours law. It lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, and finishes with time for questions.

Digital tachographs

  • Driver responsibilities and the penalties for not following the rules
  • Card insertion, manual entries and card withdrawal
  • UTC and local time, and how to adjust them
  • Mixed driving, mode activity and the menu structure
  • Pictograms, messages, displays and printouts
  • What to do if you make a mistake or the equipment fails

Drivers' hours

  • The difference between driving time and working time
  • Maximum daily, weekly and fortnightly driving hours
  • Breaks, split breaks, and daily and weekly rest
  • Compensation for reduced weekly rest
  • Periods of availability and when to use them
  • Double manning and emergency procedures

Tachographs and drivers' hours are also covered as part of our periodic Driver CPC modules, so ask us which option suits you best.
